Wrong guild or realm

Fix uploads that land in the wrong guild or no guild, and characters attached to the wrong account.

Use this page when a raid or character shows up under the wrong guild, under no guild at all, or on somebody else’s profile. It explains how the website decides where an upload belongs, so you can correct the setting that caused it.

How an upload is matched to a guild

The addon does not know which guild on the website you belong to. The website works it out when the upload arrives, from the account that sent it:

  1. Your guilds on the website. Only guilds you are a member of in Guild Pro are considered. Being in the guild in game is not enough.
  2. The game. A WoW Forever upload is only filed under a WoW Forever guild, and other uploads are never filed under a Forever guild.
  3. The realm. Among your guilds, the one whose Realm setting matches the realm of the character that made the export wins. This outranks your role.
  4. Your role. If no realm matches, the guild where you hold the highest role is used (admin, then officer, then raider), then a guild you created.

Each character in the upload is then filed by its own realm. A character on a realm that matches none of your guilds is filed under no guild, unless your guild has no realm set, in which case it is used as the fallback.

An upload made while signed out is stored without a guild. It is picked up when a signed-in member of the guild uploads the same raid.

Raids or characters land in the wrong guild

Likely cause: You are in more than one guild on the website and the guild you expected has the wrong realm set, or none.

Fix: A guild admin sets the realm.

  1. Open the guild’s settings page at /g/(your guild)/settings.
  2. In the card titled Guild name, realm, and which game, fill in Realm with the realm name exactly as the game shows it. For a WoW Forever guild, pick the ruleset realm from the list.
  3. Check that Expansion is the game the guild actually plays.
  4. Click Save.
  5. In game, type /reload so the companion app uploads again, or click Sync now in the app.

Uploads land in no guild

Work through these in order.

  • You are not a member of the guild on the website. In the companion app, open Settings and look at Your guilds. If it says “You are not in a guild on the website yet.”, join the guild on the website first. See Members and alts.
  • You were signed out. In the app, the Activity list says “not signed in — data stays local until you sign in”. On the import page, the result shows a claim code and “sign in and this character links to your profile”. Sign in and upload again.
  • The realm does not match. The guild’s Realm setting names a different realm from your character’s. Fix it as described above.
  • The guild plays a different game. Your only guild is a WoW Forever guild and the upload came from another game version, or the other way round. Add the game to your guild. See Add Forever to your guild.

The game version looks wrong

The companion app labels each upload with the game version of the folder it read from, and the website refines that by realm. If a character shows under the wrong game:

  • Check which folder is listed for that account under Settings, Watching in the app.
  • A hand-pasted export carries no folder, so the website relies on the realm alone. Use the app if a pasted export keeps landing in the wrong game.

A character is on someone else’s profile, or missing from yours

Characters are attached to the account that uploads them. If one ended up on the wrong account, or never attached, claim it with its code.

  1. Log in to that character and type /gp status.
  2. Copy the text after “Claim code:”.
  3. On the website, open /me and find Claim a character by code.
  4. Paste the code and click Claim.

The page confirms with “(character) is now linked to your profile.” If the character was on another account, it adds “and no longer to (their name)”. Holding the code is what proves you play the character, so it moves to you.

If you see “No character matches that code. Sync once from the app, or import an export, and try again.”, the website has not seen that character yet. Type /reload with the app running, or paste an export on /import, then claim again.

Keep your claim code private. Anyone who has it can move the character to their own account.

Your alts are missing

The addon can only identify the character you are logged in to. Alts on the same game account are attached automatically once one character from that account is yours. For an alt that still does not appear, log in to it, type /reload, and let the app upload.
