Choose where the bot posts

Set the Discord channel for each kind of post, per guild, per team and per raid.

Channel routes decide which Discord channel each kind of bot post lands in. Officers can view them. Only admins can change them.

Before you start

  • The bot must be installed. See Install the Discord bot.
  • Open the Bot page: /g/your-guild/bot, where “your-guild” is your guild’s address. In the guild sidebar it is Bot.

What you can route

RouteWhat posts there
SignupsThe sheet people press buttons on.
RostersThe published comp, with confirm and swap.
RecapsAfter the raid: kills, loot, hall of fame.
LootThe ledger. Often the same channel as recaps.
AnnouncementsReminders and calls to arms.
Drop-outsSomebody can’t make it, or wants a swap.
ApplicationsNew applications. Officers only, never a public channel.
SurveysWhere the bot posts new surveys and their results.

Set the guild defaults

  1. On the Bot page, find Where things post.
  2. Under Defaults, pick a channel for each row.
  3. That is all. Each dropdown saves as soon as you change it.

To clear a default, set it back to — not set —.

Send one team somewhere else

If your guild has raid teams, Where things post shows a tab for Whole guild and one for each team.

  1. Select the team’s tab.
  2. Under Defaults, pick a channel for the rows that should differ.
  3. Leave the rest on same as whole guild.

Teams are created on the Raid teams page. See Teams.

Send one raid somewhere else

Under Per-raid overrides, every raid your guild can run is a row and every route is a column.

  1. Choose the tab: Whole guild, or a team.
  2. Find the raid’s row and pick a channel in the column you want.
  3. To remove an override, set the cell back to same as default.

Which route wins

Most specific wins:

  1. The raid’s channel on a team’s tab.
  2. The raid’s channel on the Whole guild tab.
  3. The team’s default.
  4. The whole guild’s default.

Things to know

  • Only text and announcement channels are listed.
  • A channel marked with a warning sign is one the bot cannot fully post in. It needs View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links and Attach Files there.
  • Applications must be a private channel. If you pick one that @everyone can read, the change is refused. If Guild Pro cannot confirm the channel is private, it is also refused.
  • Routes that point at a missing channel, or one the bot cannot post in, are listed under Needs attention. Fix the permission in Discord, or pick a different channel.
  • /raid and /rostercall post in the channel where you type the command, not in the Signups route.
  • Recent activity at the bottom of the page shows the bot’s last 20 posts, failures and setting changes for your guild.
