Ranks and admins
Understand the three guild roles, what each one can do, and how to change somebody's role.
Every member of a guild on Guild Pro has one of three roles: raider, officer or admin. This page explains what each role can do and how an admin changes them. It is for guild masters and admins, and for anyone wondering why part of the sidebar is greyed out.
The three roles
Roles are set in Guild Pro, not by Discord roles. The same person can be an officer in one guild and a raider in another.
| Role | Who it is for | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Raider | Every regular member | Read the guild’s pages and answer what is asked of them. |
| Officer | Raid leaders | Run raids, rosters, recruitment and surveys. |
| Admin | The people who run the guild | Change roles, guild settings, raid teams, channel routes and the assistant connection. |
Each role includes everything the role below it can do.
What a raider can open
- Overview
- Calendar
- Recaps
- Loot
- Attendance
- Surveys (to answer surveys sent to them)
What an officer can also open
- Control panel
- Signups
- Guild roster
- Roster Builder
- Comp builder
- Raid plan
- Members & alts
- Recruitment
- Raid teams
- Bot, with Welcome, Reaction roles and Automations
Officers can post raids, build rosters and publish them, manage the recruitment listing, decide applications, and build and publish surveys. Some pages an officer can open still need an admin to save changes, such as raid teams, channel routes and some bot settings.
What only an admin can do
- Open Settings and MCP.
- Change anybody’s role, add people and remove people.
- Add another game to the guild.
- Choose who is allowed to create invite links.
- Approve or deny proposals filed by a connected assistant.
Sections you cannot reach stay visible in the sidebar, greyed out, with the role they need written beside them. That tells you what to ask an officer or admin for.
How the first admin is chosen
- The person who adds the bot to a Discord server that has no guild admin yet becomes the admin.
- The owner of the Discord server becomes an admin when they add or re-add the bot.
- Anybody else who re-adds the bot later gets the officer role, not admin.
- Adding the bot never lowers a role somebody already has.
The Discord server owner’s row on Members & alts shows Admin · from Discord with the reason “owns the Discord”. That role is fixed and has no dropdown.
Change somebody’s role
Only an admin can do this.
- Open Members & alts at /g/your-guild/members (“your-guild” is your guild’s address).
- Find the person in the People table.
- Open the Role dropdown and choose Admin, Officer · raid leader, Raider or Remove.
- The change saves straight away. A message confirms it and the page reloads.
A change takes effect immediately everywhere, including for any assistant token the person has minted.
Admins per game
If your guild runs more than one game, for example Classic Era and WoW Forever, each game has its own guild page and its own list of admins. The People table then shows an Admin of column with one tick box per game.
- Tick each game the person should administer: one, the other, or both.
- The change saves on every tick.
Rules that apply:
- You can only change the box for a game you administer yourself. The other boxes are greyed out, with the hint “Only an admin of [game] can change this”.
- Unticking a game leaves the person in that game as a raider. It does not remove them.
- The Discord server owner stays admin of every game.
- You cannot untick the last admin of a game. Make somebody else admin there first.
Officer and raider roles are also separate per game. Rank in one game is not rank in the other.
The last-admin rule
A guild must always have at least one admin.
- If you are the only admin, you cannot lower your own role or remove yourself. You see “You are the only admin. Promote somebody else first.”
- You also cannot leave the guild from your profile until another admin exists.
