Claim a character
Attach your characters to your account and set each one's spec and main or alt status.
Claiming links a character to your account, so its raids, loot and trophies show up as yours. This page is for every player.
Before you start
- Have the GuildPro addon installed and log in to the character at least once. See Install the addon.
Ownership is proven by the addon. It writes a claim code for each character, and only someone playing that character can produce it.
Three ways to claim
With the companion app
If you use the companion app, it claims your characters as they sync. There is nothing to do. See Pair the app.
By pasting an export
- In game, type
/gp exportand copy the text. - Open /import while signed in and paste it.
The character attaches to your account. See Import by hand.
By claim code
Use this if a character did not come across, or if it is attached to someone else’s account.
- In game, on that character, type
/gp status. The last line reads “Claim code:” followed by the code. - Open /me and stay on the Your characters tab.
- Under Claim a character by code, paste the code. It starts with
claim:. - Click Claim.
The page confirms with the character’s name and realm, then reloads.
If someone else has your character
Claim it by code. Holding the code outranks an existing claim, so the character moves to your account. The confirmation names the account it was moved from. You do not need to contact anyone.
Set your spec
The addon does not read talents, so you set your spec yourself.
- On /me, find the character in the Your characters table.
- Choose a spec in the Spec column. It saves as soon as you pick.
The list depends on your class and on the game your guild plays.
Mark your main and alts
- In the Main column, choose Main or Alt. It saves as soon as you pick.
You have one main per guild. Marking a new main turns your previous main in that guild into an alt.
An officer can set a different value for the guild’s own roster. When they have, the row shows “roster shows:” with their value. Your own choice is kept.
Good to know
- “No character matches that code” means the character has not been uploaded yet. Sync once from the app, or paste an export, then try again.
- The Guild column links to the guild’s dashboard when the character belongs to a guild on Guild Pro.
- Each claimed character gets its own public page. See your profile.
