Install the Discord bot

Add the Guild Pro bot to your Discord server and create your guild in one step.

Adding the bot connects your Discord server to Guild Pro and creates your guild on the site. This page is for the guild master or whoever runs the Discord server.

Before you start

  • You need to be the owner of the Discord server, or hold Manage Server in it.
  • You sign in to Guild Pro with Discord. The list of servers you can install into is read at sign-in.
  • All bot setup happens on the website. The old /setup command is retired and only replies with a link.

Add the bot

  1. Go to /dashboard. If you are signed out, select Continue with Discord.
  2. Under Set up your guild (or Add another Discord if you already have a guild), find your server. Servers you can install into are marked add bot.
  3. Select the server. Discord opens its own consent screen with that server already chosen.
  4. Review the permissions and approve.
  5. You return to Guild Pro. A new guild goes to the setup questions. A server that was already connected goes to its Bot page.

What happens next

  • Guild Pro creates a guild named after your Discord server. You can rename it in Settings.
  • The first person to install becomes the guild’s admin. The Discord server’s owner also always becomes admin. Anyone else who installs later with Manage Server becomes an officer. Installing again never lowers your role.
  • Installing into a server that is already connected is a repair. It does not create a second guild.
  • Each additional Discord server you add creates a new guild.

Minimal install

The default install lets the bot read, post, and manage channels, roles and events. It never asks for Administrator, kick or ban.

If you want the bot to read and post only, use the minimal install line under the server list and select your server’s name there. Things that need more access will ask for a second consent later. See Bot permissions.

If something goes wrong

Message on the dashboardWhat to do
You need Manage Server in that Discord to add the bot.Ask the server owner to add the bot, or to give you Manage Server. Then sign in again.
Install cancelled. Nothing changed. You closed Discord’s consent screen. Start again.
That install link had expired. Try it again. The install must be finished within 15 minutes of starting it.
That install did not match the server you picked. Try again.Start again from the dashboard and do not change the server on Discord’s screen.
Discord approved it, but the bot is not in that server yet. Try again.Run the install again.
None of your Discord servers can take the bot.You are not owner or Manage Server anywhere. After that changes, select Refresh my servers.

If the bot is later removed from your server, the Bot page shows the server as disconnected. An admin can select Add the bot again there.

Still stuck? Ask in the Discord.
