Install the companion app
Download the GuildPro Windows app, get past the SmartScreen warning, and learn what each part of the window does.
The companion app is a small Windows program that sits in your system tray. It installs the addons into your game for you, reads the files World of Warcraft saves, and uploads them to guildpro.io. It is for anyone who plays and does not want to copy and paste export strings.
Before you start
- You need a Windows PC. There is no Mac or Linux build.
- You need a Discord account. The app signs in with Discord, the same as the website.
Install it
- Go to /download and click Download for Windows. The line under the button shows the current version and file size.
- Run the installer. Windows SmartScreen will probably stop it with an “unknown publisher” warning, because the app is not code-signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway. You only do this once.
- When the app opens, click Sign in with Discord. See Pair the app.
- On the Put the addons in your game screen, tick the versions you play and click Install into selected. See Install the addon.
- If World of Warcraft was already running, quit it completely and start it again.
/reloaddoes not load a brand new addon.
What the app does in the background
- It starts with Windows. The first time you run it, the app registers itself to start with Windows, hidden in the tray. You can turn this off on the Settings tab under Startup by unticking Start with Windows.
- Closing the window does not quit it. The window hides and the app keeps watching. To really quit, click the tray icon and choose Quit. The tray menu also has Open GuildPro and Sync now.
- It looks for World of Warcraft by itself. It checks these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft,C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft,D:\World of WarcraftandD:\Games\World of Warcraft. Every game version and every account folder it finds is watched.
If your game is somewhere else
- Open the Settings tab.
- Under Watching, click Add a WoW folder….
- Pick your World of Warcraft folder. You can pick the main install folder, a single version folder such as
_classic_era_, or theWTFfolder. All three work.
Folders you add are watched as well as the ones found automatically, not instead of them. If the folder has no saved data under it, the Activity list shows “no SavedVariables under” followed by the path. That means you picked the wrong level of the folder tree.
Private server clients are not found automatically. Add them this way.
The window
| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
| Version chips (top) | One chip per game version being watched. Click a chip to filter the tabs to that version. A greyed chip is watched but has synced nothing yet. |
| Sync now | Reads every saved file again and uploads it without waiting for the game. |
| Raids | Your recorded runs, with bosses, wipes and loot. |
| Combat | Your own numbers from the combat log, plus the Combat logging status line. |
| WowIQ | The raid’s side of the combat log. |
| PvP / World | What the PvPLedger and MobMetrics addons have recorded. |
| Settings | Display (window scale, 100% to 200%), Startup, Your guilds, Characters, Watching, Addons in your game, and the Activity list. |
The Activity list at the bottom of Settings is the first place to look when something has not synced. Every upload, failure and retry is written there.
Updating the app
When a newer build is published, a banner appears at the top of the window: “GuildPro (new version) is out, you are running (your version).” Click Install the latest. The app downloads the update, closes and reopens by itself.
If the in-app update fails, the link changes to Get it from the site and opens /download so you can run the installer by hand.
