WoW Forever PvP: kills, boards and the PvP ruleset
WoW Forever PvP: the one-faction PvP ruleset, honor ranks to Rank 14, the Darkspear Islands 15v15 battleground, and how to track your kills for free.

In this post
WoW Forever PvP happens on every ruleset, but the PvP ruleset is where world PvP is part of daily life, and there an account is one faction only. Honor ranks run to Rank 14, and launch adds a new 15v15 battleground, Darkspear Islands. To track your kills and see them on a board, GuildPro’s free PvP addon records them and uploads to /pvp.
- Roll on the PvP ruleset if you want the other faction in daily play and one faction per account suits you.
- Normal suits you better if you want battlegrounds without world PvP on every road, or characters on both factions.
- Ask your guild first if you don’t know where they stand. A guild split across rulesets is two guilds.
What is the WoW Forever PvP ruleset?
One of the three rulesets that open on 4 November, alongside Normal and Roleplay, and the one where an account can only play one faction. Forever has no realm list. You pick a ruleset, and everyone on it in your region shares one world, with layering in the open world.
The rules that matter for PvP, per Wowhead’s report on the end of realms:
| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| One faction per account on PvP | Pick Horde or Alliance, and every character you make there is on that side |
| Same ruleset to group | A friend on Normal can’t join your PvP group |
| No cross-faction grouping | Anywhere, on any ruleset |
| Shared collections | Collections and Legacy Points are shared across rulesets except Hardcore |
Our rulesets guide covers all four, including Hardcore, which comes later in the winter.
How do honor ranks work in WoW Forever?
The honor rank system runs to Rank 14, and reaching rank milestones gives Legacy Points. That ties PvP into Forever’s account-wide progress: the Legacy system also gives points for battleground reputations, and spends them on account-wide non-combat perks.
Blizzard has said an updated seasonal PvP system is coming. Its details aren’t announced yet, so we won’t guess at them. The roadmap lists a PvP season refresh in spring 2027 and another PvP refresh in summer 2027.
What is Darkspear Islands?
A new 15v15 battleground at launch, like Eye of the Storm, with capture points you interact with. It’s the headline PvP addition in Wowhead’s Forever overview. Map details beyond that are best read there, since they may still change.
For a guild, a 15-player battleground is a natural group size for a PvP night: big enough to need a caller, small enough to fill from one guild.
What does the GuildPro PvP addon record on Forever?
Kills, deaths, assists and kill streaks, broken down by enemy, class, zone and level bracket. The addon is called PvPLedger, and the GuildPro app installs it as “GuildPro PvP”. It keeps one row per enemy player, so it can tell you who you fight most, who keeps killing you, and where.
What counts as a kill on Forever?
Forever runs on the modern engine, which closes the combat log to addons. In Classic, the addon learned every killing blow from that log. On Forever:
- A kill is an enemy player who died while you were personally fighting them: you had them targeted, or they had you, both in combat.
- An assist is an enemy who died while fighting your group, or one the honor message credited you for.
- A death is blamed on the enemy player who was targeting you just before. If nobody fits, the death isn’t recorded.
So “killing blows” on Forever really means “kills you were part of”. It’s an honest count of what the client shows, not a guess. One more limit: in battlegrounds the game can hide enemy names from addons during combat, so some battleground kills go unrecorded. Our WoW Forever addons guide explains why.
Where do I see it?
- In game: type
/pvpto open the ledger. - In the app: the PvP tab shows what the addon has recorded.
- On the site: /pvp, with tabs for Dashboard, Zones, Players, Classes, Rivals, Leaderboards, Recents and Characters, and your own records on your profile.
Duels are counted by the World addon instead, on the Duels won and Duels lost boards.
Which PvP boards are there?
About a dozen, from Most killing blows to Longest kill streak. On Forever the ones that fill are the ones built on kills, deaths and assists:
| Board | What it ranks |
|---|---|
| Most killing blows | Kills you were part of (see above) |
| Unique players killed | Each victim once, however often you farm them |
| Kills, any hand in it | Kills plus assists |
| Highest K/D | Kills over deaths, at least 25 kills to qualify |
| Longest kill streak | Kills in a row, ended by dying |
| Most hunted | Most deaths, worn as a badge |
| Most one-sided rivalry | The biggest gap between two names |
| Busiest zone | Where each player does their killing |
Forever is its own tab on /pvp, so nobody is ranked against another game. Until Forever characters upload, the boards are empty. That’s the real state of a new game. The leaderboards post covers how to get on them, World boards included.
What can a guild do with its PvP records?
Turn a vague feud into names and numbers. On a PvP ruleset the same enemy players turn up at the same flight paths and dungeon entrances week after week. The ledger’s Rivals view shows who you fight most, your nemesis (the enemy you’ve died to most) and your prey (the one you’ve beaten most).
That gives officers something better than chat arguments:
- Where the trouble is. The Zones view shows where your members kill and die, which tells you where to escort levelling alts.
- Who to call for help. Members with the longest streaks and most assists are the ones to ping when the other faction camps a raid entrance.
- Who is new to it. A member with lots of deaths and few kills may want a group for the next battleground rather than another solo trip.
None of this needs anyone to type a thing. It’s all counted as people play.
GuildPro’s PvP addon is free and comes with the same Windows app that records your raids. Install it before launch and your first kill on 4 November is on the record. Download GuildPro, then watch /pvp.
How should a guild prepare for PvP in Forever?
Decide the ruleset and faction as a guild before name reservation opens on 27 October. On the PvP ruleset a member who reserves on the wrong faction has used one of their three reservations, and the limit is three in total across all rulesets.
- Poll the guild on ruleset and faction, then pin the answer.
- Set a PvP night if your guild wants one, alongside your raid nights.
- Install the addons before launch. The setup docs cover it in a few steps.
- Agree how you’ll handle world PvP around raid times, since on the PvP ruleset the other faction will be at the entrance too.
Everything else a guild should settle before 4 November is in our WoW Forever guild checklist.
FAQ
Can I play both factions on the WoW Forever PvP ruleset?
No. On the PvP ruleset an account can have characters on one faction only. On Normal and Roleplay you can have Horde and Alliance characters.
Does WoW Forever have honor ranks?
Yes. The honor rank system runs to Rank 14, and rank milestones give Legacy Points. An updated seasonal PvP system is coming, with details not announced yet.
What is Darkspear Islands?
A new 15v15 battleground in WoW Forever, similar to Eye of the Storm, with capture points you interact with.
Can I see my PvP kills in WoW Forever?
GuildPro's free PvP addon records kills, deaths, assists and streaks on Forever, and the companion app uploads them to /pvp. Forever closes the combat log to addons, so a kill there means an enemy died while you were fighting them.
Can I play PvP with a friend on a different ruleset?
No. You can only group with players on the same ruleset, and never with the opposite faction.
